Introducing the Highbury Knicker/ Panty PDF Pattern!
The first Contour Atelier PDF pattern has arrived!
The Highbury Knicker/ Panty is a flattering non-stretch high-leg ‘Brazilian’ style brief! It’s perfect for creating matching lingerie sets as you can use the same bra-making fabrics such as Tulle, Lace and Embroidered Tulle!
As a HUGE fan of rigid lace & embroideries, it was surprising to find that so few DIY knicker sewing patterns were available for non-stretch fabrics.
Most of the patterns in the sewing world call for stretch fabrics - such as cotton jersey, mesh or stretch lace.
I did manage to find a few non-stretch patterns but they were VERY vintage inspired - a sort of ‘bloomer’ style… where they still look gathered/ ruched even when worn - not the look I was hoping for!
I wanted something more flattering, more discreet under clothing… something I could make out of my best bra making fabrics and would be comfortable enough for everyday wear.
…. So I made the Highbury Knicker!
The simple design and construction is perfect for beginners and those (like me) who love a quick and easy project that they can wear almost instantly!
The pattern contains 3 styles allowing you to experiment with different fabrics and elastics. I will also be posting plenty of pattern hacks to really make the most of these knickers.
Sewing your own underwear is a great way to experiment with new techniques and construction methods - you see the results quickly and, if things don’t turn out to plan, you can still wear them - nobody will see!
